College Policy
The College of Medical and Dental Sciences recognises its responsibilities for all members of staff, students and others who may be affected by the College's activities. It is committed to promoting and maintaining a safe and healthy working environment for everyone, and strives for continuous improvement. The College fully endorses the University Safety Policy and those of the five schools within the College.
All members of staff and students are expected to be familiar with the University Safety Policy and all local health and safety policies / procedures currently in force.

Responsibilities
The Head of College is ultimately responsible for all health and safety issues within the College. Assistance is given by the Academic Lead for Health and Safety (Chair of the College Safety Executive Committee), the College Safety Co-ordinator (Operations Manager - Infrastructure) and the College Safety Advisor who together co-ordinate, advise and if necessary, enforce health and safety policies and procedures. In addition Principal Investigators are responsible for safety within their research groups and are assisted by a network of safety co-ordinators throughout the College.
The College expects all members of staff to carry out their duties safely and responsibly. Individuals are encouraged to report any concerns they have regarding unsafe health and safety practices to either the local Safety Co-ordinator or the College Safety Co-ordinator.
